Today On 4 June 2025 , The charity organization “Zikre Nedayan ZeAbewine,” led by His Eminence Abune Elias, Archbishop of the Nordic and Greek Dioceses, has made a generous donation of 700,000 Birr to support the provision of food for the students of Zeway Hamere Birhan St. Gabriel Leadership College, overseen by His Eminence Abune Gorgorios, the Archbishop of the East Shewa Diocese.
His Eminence Abune Gorgorios, who is the head of Zeway Hamere Birhan St. Gabriel Monastery and Leadership College, and a board member of the Council of Ethiopian Religious Institutions, expressed his gratitude, noting that plans are in motion to elevate the college to a university level.
His Eminence Abune Elias also stated:
“His Eminence Abune Gorgorios has done much for this college. His efforts are significant. This spiritual college is a vital institution where students from various regions come to study. Zeway is also a historically significant place that has hosted many high-ranking archbishops, including His Eminence Abune Gorgorios. Therefore, it is only appropriate to extend support.”
He further explained that this is the first time “Zikre Nedayan ZeAbewine” charity organization has extended support to Zeway Hamere Birhan St. Gabriel Leadership College, and emphasized their commitment to continued assistance in the future.
Zeway Hamere Birhan St. Gabriel Monastery and Leadership Spiritual College of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church was established with the blessing of the Holy Synod to provide education in leadership and has been training students from dioceses across the country since 2012 E.C. (2019/2020 G.C.). In addition to formal education, the college offers exemplary training programs and various short-term training opportunities.
