The Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church Submits Its Agenda to the National Dialogue Commission

The Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church has officially submitted its agenda to the National Dialogue Commission during the national agenda collection meeting organized by the Commission.


His Eminence Abune Philipos, Archbishop of South Omo and Ari Zones and President of the Holy Trinity University, submitted the Church’s agenda to the Commission. On the occasion, he conveyed that the Commission is expected to carry out work that contributes to the betterment of the country.


His Eminence also expressed gratitude on behalf of the Church for being invited to participate in the dialogue process and to present its agendas.


He emphasized that the submitted agendas are intended to contribute to the sustainability of the country and its people. He further reaffirmed the Church’s continued support and prayers for peace, unity, and the success of the national dialogue process.


The Chief Commissioner of the Ethiopian National Dialogue Commission, Professor Mesfin Araya, stated that the dialogue process includes not only the Ethiopian Orthodox Church but also other religious institutions. He clarified that the purpose of the dialogue is to facilitate mutual understanding among the people on matters that concern them.


The Chief Commissioner also acknowledged the strong support and involvement of the Church’s leaders and followers in the dialogue process and expressed the Commission’s appreciation on behalf of the institution.


It was highlighted that the contribution of the Church during the preparatory phase of the dialogue process has been significant.


Ambassador Commissioner Mehamudur Drir, for his part, stated that religious institutions play a crucial role in reaching mutual understanding through dialogue. He emphasized that the dialogue process marks a critical chapter in the country’s journey and requires the participation of all stakeholders.
