His Holiness the Patriarch Meets with the Italian Ambassador to Ethiopia, Agostino Palese, at His Office

His Holiness Abune Mathias I, Patriarch of Ethiopia Archbishop of Axum and Echege of the See of St. Teklehaimanot, received the Italian Ambassador to Ethiopia, His Excellency Agostino Palese, at his office and held discussions with him.
The ambassador expressed his appreciation for His Holiness’s participation in the celebration organized by the Italian Embassy in Addis Ababa on June 2 (Ginbot 25), marking Italy’s National Day, and noted that the presence of His Holiness as a representative of the Church brought them great joy.
The ambassador also commended the Ethiopian Orthodox Church for the humanitarian efforts being carried out to support citizens affected by various challenges in different parts of the country.
He further emphasized the importance of strengthening such support, particularly in response to the ongoing man-made and natural crises facing the nation, and encouraged continued and enhanced cooperation moving forward.
