📖 The History of Tewahedo Media Center (TMC)

Tewahedo Media Center (TMC) was established by His Eminence Abune Henok, Archbishop of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church in Addis Ababa Diocese. The center was created to solve the problem of lack of reliable information and to bring the Church closer to the people in the digital age.

Before TMC, many church members did not have access to clear and timely updates about church events, teachings, and announcements. Abune Henok saw this gap and started TMC as a modern communication platform for the Church.

TMC uses social media and digital platforms like Telegram, YouTube, Facebook, TikTok, and Instagram to share:

  •  Church news and official messages

  •  Sermons and spiritual teachings

  •  Videos of holidays, feasts, and events

  •  Youth-focused content

  •  Educational programs about faith

TMC became especially important during the church crisis in 2023. At that time, there were serious conflicts and even attacks against Orthodox followers in places like Shashamene. TMC helped spread truthful information, shared peaceful messages, and encouraged unity and prayer. The center also covered the Church’s national fasting and mourning responses and helped protect the faith from confusion.

Today, TMC is one of the most trusted sources for Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church news. It plays a major role in connecting the Church with the people, using modern tools while staying faithful to ancient traditions.
